Dotfloor Installation Guide
Installing Dotfloor SPC vinyl plank flooring is a straightforward DIY project that most homeowners can complete in a weekend. Our patented click-lock system requires no glue, nails, or special tools.
Before You Begin
- Acclimate flooring in the room for 48 hours before installation
- Ensure subfloor is clean, dry, flat, and structurally sound
- Room temperature should be between 65°F - 85°F (18°C - 29°C)
- Maintain a 1/4" expansion gap around all walls and fixed objects
- Maximum installation area: 40' x 40' without transition strips
Tools Needed
- Tape measure and pencil
- Utility knife or miter saw
- Rubber mallet and tapping block
- Spacers (1/4" recommended)
- Pull bar for last row
- Safety glasses
Installation Steps
- Prepare the subfloor — Remove baseboards, clean and level the subfloor
- Plan your layout — Measure the room and plan plank direction (typically parallel to the longest wall)
- Start the first row — Place spacers along the wall and lay the first row with the tongue facing the wall
- Click and lock — Angle each plank at 20-30° and press down to engage the click-lock mechanism
- Stagger the joints — Offset end joints by at least 8" between rows for a natural look
- Cut the last row — Measure and cut planks to fit, maintaining the expansion gap
- Install trim and moldings — Reinstall baseboards and add transition strips as needed
